St Mirren are reported to have offered manager Jack Ross an improved contract in order to try to keep hold of the 41-year-old, who has held talks with the Blues over the vacancy at Portman Road.
Ross joined St Mirren from Alloa in October 2016 and has taken the Buddies from bottom of the Scottish Championship table to the title by 12 points in that time.
The one-time defender, who extended his St Mirren contract to the summer of 2020 in August 2017, has twice met with Blues owner Marcus Evans and remains the favourite for the Town job at 2-1 odds-on with Bet Victor.
Ross is also reported to be among Sunderland’s targets, the Black Cats’ takeover by former Eastleigh owner Stewart Donald having been confirmed earlier this afternoon.
Frank Lampard, who TWTD revealed had been interviewed by Evans for a second time on Friday, is second-favourite behind Ross at 2-1 with Shrewsbury boss Paul Hurst at 4-1.
