Few to Make Saddlers Trip - Ipswich Town News

Only 550 Town supporters will be able to attend the Blues' opening day fixture with Walsall at the Bescot Stadium. The Saddlers are currently having work carried out on their Gilbert Alsop Stand, reducing their capacity down to around 6,000.

Those Blues who are able to make the trip will be housed in the Banks's Family Stand.

Walsall are converting the Gilbert Alsop Stand into an all-seater with work carrying on into the season.

Alsop is one of Walsall's all-time heroes, a striker who had two spells with the Midlands club, 1931-35 and 1938-47. Between these he was at Town from 1937-38, scoring 30 goals in 39 games.
