Town boss Paul Hurst is again reported to want to recruit defender Aristote Nsiala and midfielder Jon Nolan from his old club Shrewsbury.
According to The Sun on Sunday, the new Blues manager, who officially starts at Town on Monday, wants the duo to follow him to Portman Road but is said to need to sell before he can sign them.
As reported when Hurst’s appointment was confirmed at the end of last month, the pair, both 26, were widely viewed as players the new Blues boss might want to see follow him and a number of speculative stories have appeared in the weeks since then.
Several other Championship clubs, including Leeds, Norwich and Sheffield United, are all thought to be eyeing Nolan, who is contracted to Shrewsbury until the summer of 2020, and is likely to cost a substantial fee.
Centre-half Nsiala, whose contract runs to the end of June 2019, is also understood to have been watched by a number of Championship sides during 2017/18.
Like Nolan, the DR Congo international was initially recruited by Hurst when Grimsby manager from elsewhere in non-league, the pair having previously been with the Everton academy. The new Blues boss signed Nsiala for a second time when he took him from Hartlepool to Shrewsbury in January 2017.
Elsewhere, former Blues striker Kieffer Moore, 25, is linked with a £1 million permanent move to his former loan club Rotherham from Barnsley, who he joined from Town for £750,000 in January.
The Blues are understood to be entitled to a percentage of the small profit the Tykes would make should that deal transpire.
