Danish Squad Fly Knudsen Home to Meet Newborn Daughter - Ipswich Town News

Town defender Jonas Knudsen was given a surprise gift by the rest of the Danish squad following their 1-0 victory over Peru in their opening World Cup group game in Saransk yesterday - a private plane back to Denmark to meet his newborn daughter for the first time.

Knudsen’s wife Trine gave birth to their first baby a few weeks earlier than anticipated on Tuesday, after he had already travelled to Russia for the finals.

The DBU (the Danish FA) announced last week that there were no plans for Knudsen to fly home to be with his wife and baby, however, the squad clubbed together to pay for the private flight as a paternity present for their team-mate.

The plane was waiting for the 25-year-old following Saturday evening’s victory over the Peruvians, in which the Town full-back had been an unused sub.

Knudsen spent today with his wife and daughter and will return to the squad’s training camp in Anapa on Monday.

On Tuesday we became parents to a healthy and beautiful baby girl ❤️ Everybody is doing great and we’re all ready for the World Cup of course! 😊 Thanks for all your messages. #prouddad I tirsdags blev vi forældre til en sund og smuk lille pige ❤️ Begge mine piger har det godt og vi er selvfølgelig alle mand klar til at VM starter! 🇩🇰 Mange tak for alle beskeder. #stoltfar @trine_bruun
