Hyam Close to Joining Southend - Ipswich Town News
Released Blues midfielder Luke Hyam is close to joining League One Southend United.
According to the Southend Echo, Hyam underwent a medical at Roots Hall yesterday and the Shrimpers, who were first linked with the 26-year-old at the start of last month, hope to complete the switch in the next 24 hours.
Former Northgate High School pupil Hyam announced his departure from Portman Road after 15 years at the club at the start of May.
Hyam made 118 starts and 28 sub appearances for his hometown club, scoring three goals. He spent a month on loan at Rotherham during 2015/16, making two starts and three sub appearances.
