Blues and Villa Linked With Rangers Keeper Foderingham - Ipswich Town News

Town and Aston Villa are reported to be showing interest in keeper Wes Foderingham, who is expected to leave Rangers this summer.

The 27-year-old has been told he is now the third choice at Ibrox behind Allan McGregor and Jak Alnwick having been their regular number one since signing on a free transfer from Swindon in 2015 and looks all but certain to move on this summer.

According to the Scottish Daily Star, Villa and Town are both willing to offer the Hammersmith-born one-time Fulham trainee a chance to return to England this summer.

Former England U16, U17 and U19 international Foderingham, who is contracted to Rangers until the summer of 2020, has also spent time with Bromley (two loan spells), Crystal Palace, Boreham Wood (loan) and Histon (loan).

The 6ft 1in tall keeper was previously mentioned in connection with the Blues back in 2014, although Town's reported interest was played down.

The Blues currently have no goalkeeping vacancy, however, it’s widely expected that there will be interest in first choice Bartosz Bialkowski, who celebrates his 31st birthday today.

Bialkowski, currently away having been given time off following Poland's World Cup exit, is contracted to the Blues until next summer, the club having exercised the option for a further year at the end of last season.

The former Southampton and Notts County man is still to put pen to paper on the new deal ex-boss Mick McCarthy said had been agreed in January.

Speaking in April, Bialkowski said his agent was continuing to talk to Blues owner Marcus Evans.
