Striker Freddie Sears says the squad have had a good week working hard at their training camp in Spain.
"Obviously the new gaffer has come in with new ideas and the new staff also have new ideas," Sears told iFollow Ipswich.
"It's been a good week. We've done a lot of different stuff, a lot more hard work, more stuff in the gym but I think everyone has felt the benefits from it.
"Week one and week two are normally pretty tough and week one was a really tough week. I'm just looking forward to the games now.
"Once the games come around it calms down a little bit and then you get back into the match rhythm of playing 45, 60, 90 minutes and then you're ready for the first game of the season."
The Blues are playing a behind-closed-doors friendly today at the Pinatar Arena Football Center, San Pedro del Pinatar, near Murcia where they have spent the week against as yet unknown opposition before returning to England.
Their first pre-season friendly proper is next Saturday away against Vanarama National League Braintree Town.
