New Boss Watches U18s Beat Fulham - Ipswich Town News

Town's U18s continued their pre-season preparations with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Fulham at Playford Road on Wednesday in front of watching new first-team boss Paul Hurst and his assistant Chris Doig.

The visitors opened the scoring early on when Harvey Elliott hit a shot across Toby Egan which found the far bottom corner.

However, the young Blues hit back on 15 when a good run and ball across the box from Idris El Mizouni was turned into his own net by Cottagers' centre-back Connor McAvoy.

Egan did well to tip a towering header from Scott Armsworth over the bar and then at the other end, Town grabbed what proved to be the winning goal.

A fine ball from Thomas Hughes was fed through to Armando Dobra (pictured) by Kai Brown, and the diminutive attacker fired the ball into the roof of the net at the near post.

The dangerous Elliott hit the near post later on in the half and El Mizouni forced the visiting keeper into a good save but Town defended well and held on for the win, despite changing 10 of the starting XI at the interval.

U18s: Egan (Alley 46), Crowe (Ruffles 46), O'Reilly (Smith 46), Healey (Ronan 46), Henry (Ferenbach 46), Vega (Henry 69 (Clifford 80)), K Brown (Scott 46), El Mizouni (Foudil 46), Z Brown (Reed 46), Hughes (Barley 46), Dobra (Simpson 46).
