Chalobah Away With England U19s - Ipswich Town News

New Blues loanee Trevoh Chalobah is with the England U19s squad ahead of the European Championships in Finland and will miss Saturday’s trip to Braintree and perhaps all of Town’s pre-season programme.

The 19-year-old Chelsea central defender or midfielder has already joined up with the squad for the tournament which runs from Monday until the final on July 29th.

Even if England fail to make it out of the group stages, in which they play Turkey, Ukraine and France, Chalobah will be away until July 23rd when he would only realistically be able to play in the home friendly against West Ham.

Town have four other players who could potentially also be in the squad, Andre Dozzell, Tristan Nydam, Flynn Downes - all of whom have won caps at that level previously - and Ben Morris, who has played for the U17s and U18s.

The squad, which is already subject to a number of clubs refusing to release their players, is officially confirmed on Monday with England’s first match against Turkey on Tuesday.

Dozzell, who alongside Chalobah was a member of the squad which carried off the trophy in Georgia a year ago, is definitely not involved, Town having confirmed that he will be in their squad at Braintree tomorrow.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Ben Amos, who was linked with the Blues recently, has joined Millwall on a season-long loan from Bolton.
