Released Blues striker David McGoldrick is joining Sheffield United on trial.
According to the Sheffield Star, the 30-year-old was invited to train with the Blades squad and is expected to play in Tuesday’s friendly against Bradford City at Valley Parade as he looks to impress manager Chris Wilder.
McGoldrick left Town in May when he wasn’t offered new terms with his contract up, but in any case the former Nottingham Forest and Southampton man was keen to move closer to his family home in the East Midlands.
It's reported that Wilder spoke to former Blues boss Mick McCarthy regarding McGoldrick prior to making his approach to the player.
McCarthy is said to have told him he believed the three-hour travelling time from the striker's home in Nottingham may have served to aggravate his injury problems.
Earlier in the summer, the Republic of Ireland international was reported to be in talks with Aston Villa, West Brom and Bristol City.
