Town chairman David Sheepshanks has confirmed that Everton have enquired about "certain players". David Moyes was thought to be interested in Matt Holland and Marcus Stewart and sounded Town out on a cash-plus-players deal, something the Blues are not interested in.
Sheepshanks said: "I can confirm that Everton came on to us not long after the end of the season to enquire about certain players."
He added that there had been interest from other clubs with various players attracting attention, and not always those who have widely been linked with moves. However, Sheepshanks says that no solid offers have come in as yet: "We have, so far, not had a bid for anyone."
