Chalobah Skippers and Morris on as Sub as England U19s Draw - Ipswich Town News

Blues loanee Trevoh Chalobah skippered and striker Ben Morris came on as a late sub as the England U19s drew 1-1 with Ukraine at the European Championships in Finland.

Middlesbrough’s Marcus Tavernier gave the Young Lions the lead in the eighth minute but Vladyslav Supriaha equalised just before half-time.

Morris was introduced as a sub and won his first cap at U19s level - to add to appearances for the U17s and U18s - with nine minutes left on the clock.

Chalobah was England’s left-sided centre-half and has now won 22 caps at U19s level, scoring once.

England, who are defending the trophy they won in Georgia a year ago when Chelsea youngster Chalobah was a member of the team, go into Monday’s final group game against France top of their group.

Andre Dozzell was also a key man in the side which won the Euros last summer but has remained behind this year as he continues his return from injury.

Fellow midfielders Tristan Nydam and Flynn Downes also won U19s caps last season but Town were unwilling to release the duo for the competition, preferring that they remain in Suffolk for pre-season.

England U19s: Ellery Balcombe (Brentford), Jamie Cumming (Chelsea), Trevoh Chalobah (Ipswich Town, on loan from Chelsea), Nathan Ferguson (West Bromwich Albion), Ed Francis (Almere City, on loan from Manchester City), Tariq Lamptey (Chelsea), Dujon Sterling (Coventry City, on loan from Chelsea), Japhet Tanganga (Tottenham Hotspur), Tom Bayliss (Coventry City), Elliot Embleton (Sunderland), Conor Gallagher (Chelsea), Nya Kirby (Crystal Palace), Adam Lewis (Liverpool), Max Sanders (Brighton & Hove Albion), Marcus Tavernier (Middlesbrough), Kelland Watts (Newcastle United), Ben Brereton (Nottingham Forest), Niall Ennis (Wolverhampton Wanderers), George Hirst (OH Leuven), Ben Morris (Ipswich Town).
