TWTD understands Town have not received a second bid from Sheffield United for striker Martyn Waghorn, despite Blades manager Chris Wilder claiming an offer had been lodged with the Blues on Saturday and that they were awaiting a response.
TWTD revealed on Friday that Town had quickly turned down a bid of approaching £5 million around three weeks ago and we understand that remains the only offer received by the Blues.
The Blades are one of a number of clubs eyeing Waghorn but are the only ones to firm up their interest so far.
In addition to Sheffield United, Derby County, Middlesbrough and Birmingham have also been eyeing the 28-year-old, while Nottingham Forest have been linked.
Waghorn is effectively contracted to the Blues for two more seasons, his current deal running to next summer with the club having an option to keep him for a further year.
Speaking last week, Town manager Paul Hurst, coincidentally born in Sheffield but brought up an Owls fan, said he had told Waghorn he wants him to stay at Portman Road, while owner Marcus Evans is also believed to want to keep hold of the £200,000 bargain signing from Rangers.
Waghorn, who swiftly became a hugely popular figure at Town following that August 2017 switch, scoring 16 goals and recording 11 assists last season, is understood to be happy at the club with his family, including his parents, having settled in Suffolk since his move.
