Injury Worries for Town - Ipswich Town News

Town have more than a few worries for the weekend with John McGreal (ankle), Marcus Stewart (back), Mark Venus (ankle), Jonas Axeldal and Fabian Wilnis (thigh).

Who of these will be available on Saturday will become clearer later in the week, although John McGreal and Jonas Axeldal certainly won't be taking the field at QPR.

Wilnis's injury doesn't look too bad and Venus's is a recurrence of the one that has dogged his season and may well be OK to play on by Saturday. Town are hoping that Stewart's latest problem settles down sooner rather than later.

Richard Wright has given a hint he might stay with Town if they are promoted. Wright was yesterday quoted saying: "All I want to do is make it into the Premiership with Ipswich. I believe I can achieve things in the Premiership with Ipswich."

Of course, this also hints that he'll be off if Town stay in Division One. Town are very keen to keep Wright and are likely to try to put together a deal which will encourage him to add to the remaining year of his contract in the summer.

Wright's indecision over signing an extension of a contract made him a target of boo-boys at the weekend who barracked him during the first half for allegedly lacking commitment to Town. The small group also were suggesting that he has already decided to go to Chelsea at the end of the season.

Town's new away kit has received over 200 orders already.

If you are in Ipswich this evening and wonder why the floodlights are on it is because the final of the Suffolk Senior Cup is being played between Grundisburgh and Needham Market. Kick-off 7.30pm.

On-loan Sean Friars is likely to return for Portadown at the weekend. Friars has been back in Ipswich after damaging ankle ligaments in the Northern Ireland U21 match with Malta. He has been in Ipswich receiving treatment, but may well be fit enough for their crucial League game with Linfield.
