Town boss George Burley says he is "delighted" that Mark Venus has signed a new one-year deal at Town. The Blues manager added that Venus, who moved to Portman Road in 1997, has proved an excellent acquisition for the club.
Burley told the club site: "I am delighted that Mark has signed a new contract.
"He was the club's Player of the Year last season and has proved to be a tremendous acquisition for Ipswich Town.
"Mark had an outstanding year in the Premiership last season, and proved himself as a top class defender. He also showed his quality with his excellent delivery of the ball from set-pieces.
"I'm sure he will prove to be an important part of our squad as we bid to make an immediate return to the Premiership."
