Blues Close in on Jackson as Bogle Joins Birmingham - Ipswich Town News

Blues target Omar Bogle has completed his season-long loan switch from Cardiff to Birmingham City as Town continue their pursuit of Accrington Stanley’s Kayden Jackson.

Bogle, who played for Blues boss Paul Hurst at Grimsby, had been viewed as a potential alternative to Jackson, another of Hurst’s former Mariners strikers, with Town baulking at the League One club’s £2.5 million asking price.

However, the Blues have maintained a dialogue with Accrington regarding Jackson although yesterday’s reports that a fee had been agreed with the Blues, QPR and Peterborough were premature.

However, it does appear likely a deal will be done prior to Thursday’s 5pm deadline, almost certainly for a sum a fair bit below Stanley’s valuation, with it being reported that the Blues are closing in on a fee which will be acceptable to the Lancastrians.

This morning, Town were linked with Rangers forward Josh Windass, who coincidentally was previously with Accrington.

The Blues were reported to have made a £2 million offer for the 24-year-old but while Town are keen, their interest has not yet gone that far.

Given the sums involved, it seems unlikely the Blues would move for Windass if they have secured the signing of Jackson.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa are reported to view Town left-back Jonas Knudsen as a potential alternative if they miss out on Bristol City’s Joe Bryan.

The Robins have agreed a fee with Villa and Middlesbrough, who in turn were linked with the Danish international at the weekend. However, Villa are believed to have won the chase for Bryan.

Speaking on Saturday, following reports that Stoke City were interested in Knudsen, Hurst said that that switch wouldn’t be happening.

"What I would say is to my knowledge that’s not going to be happening,” he said. "Every time I’ve watched Jonas in the past and speaking to people about him and seeing him first-hand now, he’s a fully committed player and I certainly didn’t see anything in his performance today that would suggest he’s got something else on his mind.”
