Scottish reports claim Rangers are weighing-up a bid of £1.2 million from Town for forward Josh Windass.
Yesterday, it was reported that the Blues had made an offer of £2 million but according to various reports this morning an initial £1.2 million is on the table with the Gers trying to negotiate a substantial sell-on clause.
TWTD can confirm there something in the claims of Town interest in Windass, who coincidentally previously played for Accrington where another Blues target Kayden Jackson is currently a player and from where Janoi Donacien was signed last week.
It seems more likely Town would look to sign both Jackson, who is believed to be joining the Blues for an initial £1.5 million, and Windass given the lower fees now being quoted. Joe Garner's potential exit to Bolton would also add to the available funds.
Windass, who is 5ft 9in tall, is appears more of a direct replacement for Martyn Waghorn, who is set to join Derby this morning, than Jackson. He would presumably either play wide or as a number 10 for Town.
Born in Hull, Windass started his career in Huddersfield’s youth set-up before dropping into non-league with Harrogate Railway Athletic prior to moving on to Accrington and then Rangers in 2016.
The son of former Tiger Dean, Windass has scored 19 goals in 57 starts and 14 sub appearances at Ibrox and signed a new contract which runs to 2021 in February. All bar one of his Rangers goals came last season.
