No Tenth Signing Before Deadline - Ipswich Town News

Town were unsuccessful in their late attempt to sign AFC Wimbledon skipper Deji Oshilaja, TWTD understands.

The Blues were hoping to add another centre-half to their squad before this evening’s 5pm deadline but were unable to get the deal to sign Oshilaja done.

That’s unlikely to be the end of the story with EFL clubs able to recruit players on loan from tomorrow and it’s likely that Town will look to try to bring in the 25-year-old on that basis, then potentially make the switch permanent in January. Charlton are also believed to have made an approach for Londoner Oshilaja.

The Blues are short of centre-halves at present with Luke Woolfenden out for six weeks with a knee injury.

Oshilaja was with Cardiff’s youth set-up during which time he spent spells on loan at Newport, Sheffield Wedneday and Gillingham. He joined Wimbledon last summer and was handed the skipper’s armband ahead of this campaign.

Town ended the window having made nine additions, loanees Trevoh Chalobah, Tayo Edun and Janoi Donacien (whose loan will become a full-time switch once his permanent leave to remain is confirmed) and permanent signings Ellis Harrison, Gwion Edwards, Jon Nolan, Toto Nsiala, Kayden Jackson and Jordan Roberts.
