Australasian Branch After Players for Fourth Derby Down Under - Ipswich Town News
The Australasian Branch of the Town Supporters Club are looking for Sydney-based Blues to play in the fourth instalment of the Derby Down Under. The game against Canaries Down Under is being played on Saturday 1st September in Centennial Park, a day before the derby proper at Portman Road (KO 2pm).
Ed Parker, chairman of the branch, told TWTD: "Returning after a year off, this will be the fourth encounter to be held in Sydney with Town having won all three of the previous games.
"The Canaries will be keen to restore some pride following their 7-1 thrashing last time around, so it’s important that we field a strong team.
"Sadly with the actual derby pushed back to the Sunday we won’t be able to watch the game together live afterwards but we will all meet up for a post-match beer in Cheers Bar to watch whatever is being shown.”
If you’re interested in playing or just cheering on the Blues from the sidelines, contact Ed by email via edontheroadagain@hotmail.com.
