TWTD understands Town are finally getting closer to completing the signing of Blackpool central defender Curtis Tilt on loan with a view to a permanent deal in January.
The Blues have been chasing the 27-year-old all summer but without having been able to agree a fee with the Seasiders with bids of up to £800,000 turned down, the League One club having targeted a £1 million fee.
Tilt, who has a year left on his contract at Bloomfield Road but with the Tangerines having an option for a further season, was left out of the Blackpool team which drew 1-1 at home to Accrington on Saturday, although interim-boss Terry McPhillips subsequently said the former Wrexham man was left out as a fitness precaution.
Quizzed on Tilt following Town’s game at Sheffield Wednesday, Blues boss Paul Hurst confirmed he is a player he remains interested in: "Yes, I’m not going to change my mind and think he’s suddenly a bad player or anything but he’s one of the players [I’m interested in], no secret.
"I don’t particularly like speaking about other players but it’s out there but it’s been discussed numerous times already.”
Tilt played in non-league for Halesowen Town, Hednesford Town, AFC Telford Town, Wrexham and Forest Green Rovers (loan) before joining Blackpool last summer.
He made 45 starts for the League One side in 2017/18, his first EFL campaign, scoring once and picking up three Seasiders’ player of the season gongs. This season he had made three starts prior to being left out of Saturday's side.
Rangers, Reading, QPR and Portsmouth have all also been linked with Tilt this summer.
