Town are reportedly among a number of Championship clubs eyeing a move for Derby County’s former Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome.
According to the Daily Mirror, Town, Blackburn Rovers, Hull City, QPR and Reading are all keen on the 32-year-old with the Rams open to offers for the frontman, who is said to be a high earner at Pride Park.
Jerome, who joined Derby from Norwich for a reported £1.5 million in January, is yet to feature for the Rams under new manager Frank Lampard having scored six goals in 10 starts and 10 sub appearances last season following his switch.
Turkish reports previously linked Goztepe with a move for Jerome, who counts Middlesbrough, Cardiff, Birmingham, Stoke and Crystal Palace (loan) among his previous clubs. He has another year left on his contract.
Another striker is very much on manager Paul Hurst’s wish-list before Friday’s 5pm loan deadline but Jerome might prove a controversial signing given his Canaries past, while wages could be an issue if he is, as reported, one of Derby’s higher earners.
