Morris Set to Join Forest Green Rovers - Ipswich Town News

Blues striker Ben Morris is set to join League Two Forest Green Rovers on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old has made one senior start and four sub appearances for the Blues but looked unlikely to play too much part in the season ahead and had been expected to move out on loan.

We understand Town can cut the loan short in January if the England U19 international, who previously had a short loan spell at Woking in the 2016/17 season, is needed at Portman Road.

Morris may not be the last player to move out on loan with manager Paul Hurst having hinted that he might allow Luke Woolfenden to depart if he was able to secure another centre-half, Matthew Pennington having signed on a season-long loan this evening.

Speaking on Wednesday, Hurst revealed that there had been interest in Woolfenden, who returned to action with the U23s on Monday following a knee injury, several weeks earlier than had been anticipated.

"I have to say, I think credit to the medical staff and also credit to the player himself, he made a speedier recovery than we first thought or feared,” Hurst said.

"He’s one that we’ve had a quite a bit of interest in on the loan front but as we stand, I’m sure you’d all agree, it would be foolish to allow someone like that out if we haven’t got another defender in the building with us.

"But I think it was pleasing to see him out there, especially when we thought it might have been another three weeks or so.

"He’s a young lad, hopefully he he doesn’t get injured anyway, but if he does he’s shown that he’s quite a quick healer.”

The deadline for making signings passed at 5pm but clubs are waiting on confirmation from the authorities that deals went through in time."
