Woolfenden and Emmanuel Make Debuts for Loan Clubs - Ipswich Town News

Luke Woolfenden and Josh Emmanuel were the only starters among Town’s seven loanees this afternoon, the pair making their debuts for loan clubs Swindon and Shrewsbury respectively.

Central defender Woolfenden, 19, played the full 90 minutes as the Robins beat Morecambe 1-0 away in League Two despite having been reduced to 10 men after only 35 minutes. The red card led to the academy product switching from centre-half to right-back.

Emmanuel, 21, also played the full game for the Shrews at right-back as they drew 1-1 at Portsmouth in League One.

Centre-half Chris Smith was the only other Town loan player to make it on to the field, the 20-year-old coming on as a half-time sub as Aldershot beat Bromley 3-2 in the Vanarama National League at the Recreation Ground, adding to his two previous starts and one sub appearance.

Striker Ben Morris was an unused sub as Forest Green Rovers drew 1-1 at home to Port Vale in League Two. The 19-year-old made his debut for his loan club as a starter in Tuesday’s 4-0 Checkatrade Trophy victory over Cheltenham Town.

First game, first clean sheet.

Defender Pat Webber, 19, was an unused sub as Braintree were beaten 1-0 at home by Wrexham in the National League, while striker Aaron Drinan, 20, was also left on the bench as Sutton United won 1-0 away against Airdrie in the Irn-Bru Cup.

Eighteen-year-old midfielder Tristan Nydam’s loan side St Johnstone weren’t in Scottish Premiership action this afternoon.
