Sereni Move a Loan - Ipswich Town News

Town manager George Burley says that the Blues have lined-up a Serie A loan deal for Italian keeper Matteo Sereni. Earlier today TWTD reported that Brescia had renewed their interest in the Town keeper and look likely to be the club in question.

Burley says: "We are talking to a club in Serie A about a transfer.

"It will probably be a loan deal, with a view to a permanent move, but talks are ongoing and we'll know more in the next couple of days."

Sereni is one of Town's highest paid players and off-loading him will remove £1 million from the wagebill while putting him in the shop window in Italy, where he is highly-rated.

According to Burley more than one club has come in for the keeper, who has said he wants to return to Italy. Sereni's hometown club Parma were linked earlier in the summer, however they are not the club interested in the loan deal.

Brescia president Gino Corioni now appears keen to sign Sereni after initially denying stories linking his side with the Town man. Their current keeper, Luca Castellazzi, is reported to be on his way to Sunderland.

Corioni said "The possibility still exists that Sereni will arrive. He is the keeper we want."
