Folami Assists as Australia Reach Quarter-Finals - Ipswich Town News
Blues striker Ben Folami assisted his side’s goal as the Australian U19s drew 1-1 with Jordan to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the 2018 AFC U19 Championship in Indonesia this afternoon.
Folami, who was winning his third cap, created Oliver Puflett’s goal in the 10th minute with the Jordanians levelling on 76 to set up a tense ending to the game.
However, the Australians held on for the point which saw them finish second in the group. They will now face the winners of Group D, probably Saudi Arabia, who play currently-second Tajikistan in their final group match tomorrow.
Folami, 19, who made two starts and three sub appearances for the Blues first team last season, scored his first goal for the Young Socceroos in the 2-1 victory over Vietnam on Monday, which followed a 1-1 draw with group winners South Korea in their opening game.
