Folami Wins Cap But Australia Exit AFC U19 Championship - Ipswich Town News

Ben Folami’s Australian U19s exited the AFC U19 Championship at the quarter-final stage after losing 3-1 to Saudi Arabia in Indonesia.

The defeat means the Young Socceroos, who finished second in their group, miss out on a place in next summer’s FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland.

Folami, 19, who was winning his fourth U19s cap, scored once and assisted once at the tournament, both in the group stage.

The Sydney-born striker impressed and his performances have seen the Australian media tip him for full international honours.

Given Arnie's recent call ups of Iredale and Genreau got to think it's only a matter of time before Folami gets a taste of a senior @Socceroos camp. #AFCU19 https://t.co/lTW6FViRjG– Joey Lynch (@joeylynchy) October 29, 2018

Folami made two Blues starts - one in the Championship and one in the Carabao Cup - last season in addition to three sub appearances.

While away with Australia Folami spoke about his career both domestically and internationally.
