Town boss Paul Lambert has no new injury worries ahead of Saturday’s trip to Reading, while Myles Kenlock and Ellis Harrison are getting closer to a return to fitness.
"We’re not too bad at this moment,” Lambert said at his pre-match press conference at Playford Road.
"The lads have moved to a different way of training that we’ve tried to do and you get little things from that which you’d expect because you have to go through that barrier of a different regime and different training.
"But I’ve got to say they’ve been great, they really have. They’ve given everything in training again, they’re doing the right things and that’s all I can ask from them.
"They’ve given us absolutely everything and we’re ready, we’re ready for the game and we’re looking forward to it.”
Kenlock and Harrison have both been out with ankle injuries but Lambert says they’re on their way back.
"Myles trained, I still think he’s a little short of it, I don’t think he’s fit enough in this moment,” he added.
Physically he’s in a good place I think but actual fitness levels for a game I think it’s still a bit early.
"Ellis is doing well, hopefully he’ll be back after the international break. They’re starting to make headway which is pleasing.”
One man who is sidelined at present is Jon Nolan, who missed last week’s 1-1 home draw with Preston.
"Jon’s got a dead leg, he got a bad one in training,” Lambert said. "He’s doing well but it’s just a little bit early for him.”
The new Blues boss confirmed that Grant Ward is fit and was unlucky not to make the cut last weekend.
"I can only pick 18 and it was very tough to pick a squad because everybody was great in training,” Lambert continued. "I can only go with what I see and picked a team and a bench that could win us the game.
"Wardy’s chance along with others will come. As long as the focus is always there and the team spirit is always there then he’ll get his chance and then it’s up to him to take it.”
He added: "Since I’ve been here the attitude [in the squad] has never been a problem. They’re a really close group, which you certainly need and, as I’ve said before, we need everybody, not just 18 guys.
"You need everybody at a level where if somebody gets injured or suspended or a red card we have to have everybody that’s available.”
Teddy Bishop played 45 minutes for the U23s on Monday and Lambert has been impressed with the 22-year-old and a number of other young players since coming to Town.
"The club is blessed with three, four or five of them that are very talented,” he said. "He’s certainly one of them.
"He’s a player with huge potential. But we have to wait, we cannot just throw him in after being injured for so long.
"But he’s doing great, I’m really, really pleased with the way he’s progressing. He’s a young kid who has got a lot of potential.”
Similarly, Emyr Huws is training but won’t be rushed after his long spell out with knee problems, while Tom Adeyemi recently underwent achilles surgery and is expected back in January.
