Blues midfielder Flynn Downes has been added to the England U20 squad for next Monday’s game against Germany at Colchester United having initially been on standby.
Downes, 19, who is yet to win a cap at U20s level having played for the England U19s last season, joins Andre Dozzell and Trevoh Chalobah in the squad, while Town U16s coach Titus Bramble is joining head coach Paul Simpson’s staff ahead of the U20s Elite League game. Town loanee Tayo Edun was also put on standby.
Dozzell won his first U20s cap in last month’s 1-1 draw in the Czech Republic, Chalobah having made his first appearance at that level in September. Edun won seven U20s caps last season.
Bramble follows his fellow academy coach Kieron Dyer in working with Simpson. Town U18s assistant manager Dyer was involved with the squad ahead of last month’s games and has been asked to join up again for future matches but is not involved on this occasion.
