Karic On Holiday - Ipswich Town News

Reports this morning indicate that Amir Karic has been given time off to recuperate after the World Cup by Town boss George Burley. Stories from Slovenia yesterday reported that he had left Portman Road and was almost certain to rejoin former club NK Maribor for the new season.

Karic returned from his last loan spell at Maribor at the weekend seemingly thinking he would have a pivotal role in the season ahead, something that appeared to be unlikely after he was completely frozen out last season.

Town have given him the week off to rest, although he has been given a fitness programme so he doesn't fall too far behind the other players.

Another loan move to Maribor, or elsewhere if no buyer can be found for him, seems very much on the cards.

Meanwhile Pablo Couñago's currently very distant hopes of a Spanish international call-up have received a boost with his former U21 manager Inaki Saez being named the full side's boss.
