FA Youth Cup Date Set - Ipswich Town News

The Blues' U18s' FA Youth Cup third round tie against Andover Town has been confirmed for Tuesday 4th December at Portman Road (KO 7pm).

Tickets for the visit by the Bluebirds, whose senior side play in the Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier Division, are priced at £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.

The game will clash with the PLC AGM scheduled for the same evening, which manager Paul Lambert is set to attend.

Andover beat fellow non-leaguers Wingate & Finchley in the second round earlier this month 8-7 on penalties after a 2-2 draw to set up their trip to Suffolk.

That match was the Bluebirds' sixth in the competition following a 1-0 after-extra-time home victory over Ardley United in the preliminary round, a 4-0 thrashing of Bracknell Town in the first qualifying round, also at home, another 4-0 success at Kidlington in the second qualifying round, a 3-1 win at Welwyn Garden City after extra time in the third qualifying round and a 4-1 victory at Phoenix Sports in the first round proper.

Last season the young Blues were beaten 2-0 at the fifth round stage at home by Blackpool having defeated Everton 2-1 in round three at Goodison Park and Dagenham & Redbridge at Portman Road, also 2-1, in the fourth round.

Town have won the competition on three occasions, in 1973, 1975 and most recently in 2005.

Meanwhile, the Blues youngsters will face Kirkley & Pakefield away in the quarter-finals of the Suffolk Premier Cup. The game has been pencilled in for Tuesday 12th February.
