Drinan's Sutton Loan Ended - Ipswich Town News
Town have confirmed that striker Aaron Drinan's loan spell with Vanarama National League side Sutton United has been ended early.
Sutton head coach Ian Baird explained why the spell had been cut short: "Aaron Drinan went back to Ipswich, we spoke to Paul Lambert on Thursday.
"We felt we needed to freshen things up after the penalty defeat against Slough, not only the penalty defeat to Slough, our goals for and the chances that we're not creating so we had to do something.
"That stats say Aaron's scored one goal in 19, albeit he did very, very well here work-wise and he's a good young professional, so we had to make that difficult decision."
Drinan, who is in the Blues U23s side playing at Millwall this afternoon, made 12 starts and 11 sub appearances for Sutton in all competitions having joined them in August following a trial, with his only goal having come in the 2-1 FA Cup victory over Wealdstone.
The Cork-born striker was due to remain on loan at Gander Green Lane until January.
The 20-year-old, who joined Town from Waterford in January, was on the Town first-team bench on five occasions last season but without making it on to the field.
