Lambert Vows to Field Strong Team at Accrington - Ipswich Town News

Blues boss Paul Lambert says he'll field a team “as strong as I can” in the FA Cup third round tie away against League One Accrington Stanley in January.

"Tough, every game is tough,” the Town manager said. "It isn’t something that shocks me. We go there and will try and get through.

"It’s a tough game, a small ground, I’ve been there before with Wycombe so I know exactly what it’s like. Just like anywhere in a cup tie it’s a one-off game and you try and get through.”

He believes it’s important for the Blues to get a victory against Stanley as any win can breed confidence: "It becomes contagious when you win games. First and foremost we have to concentrate on the games before, the cup game will take care of itself. But I’ll certainly go as strong as I can.”

The Blues’ last victory in the FA Cup came back in January 2010 when they beat Blackpool 2-1 in the third round at Bloomfield Road during Roy Keane’s time in charge.

Last season Town were beaten 1-0 at home by Sheffield United, their 13th match without a victory in the competition they won for the only time in 1978.

Regarding confirmation of Janoi Donacien’s permanent leave to remain, which when it comes will turn the St Lucian’s loan into a full-time switch from Stanley, Lambert says there has been no news: "I don’t think so at the minute, I think that’s still ongoing.”
