Fortuna Linked With Knudsen - Ipswich Town News

Town left-back Jonas Knudsen is interesting Fortuna Düsseldorf, according to a report in Germany.

Knudsen, 26, is out of contract at the end of the season and is permitted to talk to other clubs about a summer move in January, while sides may hope Town take a cut-price offer in the winter window rather than risk allowing him to move on for a free transfer in the close season.

Town manager Paul Lambert said last month that he had recommended to owner Marcus Evans that new terms should be offered to the Danish international, who subsequently confirmed that Evans had called him and that discussions were in the hands of his agent.

According to Bild, Fortuna, a group of whose fans will be making their annual pilgrimage to Portman Road for the Rotherham game in January, are keen on Knudsen as they need cover at left-back with Diego Contento having been ruled out for the season with a ruptured cruciate knee ligament.

Fortuna are currently bottom of the Bundesliga having been promoted to the German top flight last season.

Earlier this week, Danish Superliga top two FC Copenhagen and FC Midtjylland were also linked with Knudsen, while the player previously confirmed that there was serious interest from Middlesbrough and Stoke in the summer.

The full-back, who has said he is happy at Town, joined the Blues from his local side Esbjerg fB in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £300,000. He has made 144 starts and two sub appearances, scoring four times.
