Sears Set to Stay With Town Until 2020 - Ipswich Town News
Town have taken up an option to extend striker Freddie Sears’s contract until the summer of 2020. The 29-year-old’s deal was due to be up at the end of June next year.
Sears has been one of the successes of new boss Paul Lambert’s time in charge of the Blues, netting four goals in the new manager’s first four games.
Speaking about Sears earlier today, Lambert said: "I think he’s been brilliant, Freddie Sears, I really do.
"I think the way he plays the game and with his understanding of what we’re asking him to do, what he wants to perform, he’s been excellent since we’ve come in.
"I never really realised he was as good as he is, but his performances have been second to none.”
Sears, who said earlier in the week he is in the best form of his Town career, joined the Blues from Colchester United for £200,000 in January 2015.
The Hornchurch-born striker or wideman has scored 28 goals in 119 starts and 46 sub appearances.
