Blues boss Paul Lambert says striker Ben Morris is unlikely to see any involvement in his first team, despite having returned from his loan spell at Forest Green Rovers.
"At this moment in time we just need a little bit more than that,” he said when asked if the 19-year-old could come into his thoughts having returned. "As I said before, if you’re hanging your hat on kids, you’re in trouble.
"You can’t ask the kids to keep going week in, week out for you, it’s a really big ask for them. They’ve done great. If you look at the team on Saturday it was incredibly young.
"Jack Lankester’s done great for me since he’s been in. He’s done really well. Flynn Downes has been excellent, he’s sustained it, Trevoh Chalobah’s only 19 years old as well.
"As I said after the game, Steve Morison’s appearances were than our front six, which is an incredible way the club has gone but that’s the way it’s gone.
"We can’t keep relying on them to learn their trade when you’re in the position we’re in. hey need a little bit of help themselves.”
Morris, who is cup-tied so couldn’t play at Accrington on Saturday in any case, will have to go out to a Vanarama National League club if the Blues want to send him back out on loan due to FIFA’s three club rule having featured for Town on the opening day and Forest Green this season.
"I’ll have to find that out,” Lambert added. "I don’t want kids to come here and stagnate and train and train with nothing at the end of it.
"You’d rather kids go out and play games as well. At this moment in time, it’ll be difficult for him because we need a little bit more, you saw the physicality of Millwall, even Sheffield United, teams are a helluva lot bigger than us, we need that little bit more power.”
Josh Emmanuel and Luke Woolfenden remain out on loan at Shrewsbury and Swindon respectively, but Tristan Nydam is back from his half-season spell at St Johnstone.
"Tristan’s back, he trained this morning and did well,” Lambert said. "But he’s not in my thoughts for Saturday, not at this moment in time.”
