Adkins Expects Keane to Join Town Today - Ipswich Town News

Hull City manager Nigel Adkins says he expects striker Will Keane to sign on loan with the Blues today, as TWTD reported would be the case yesterday.

"Will is down at Ipswich at this moment in time. He’s not signed just yet,” Adkins said at a press conference this morning Hull Live reports.

"It’s been a busy couple of days. The last two days I’ve been with the owners and we’re trying to be as active as we can.

"Will hasn’t signed as yet but the process is in place where I’d imagine at some time during today he’ll have signed on loan with Ipswich Town.

"We’re looking to do business ourselves and from our point of view it’s how things fit in together.”

He added: "This is an opportunity to freshen things up a bit. I played him in the game against Leeds and he did ever so well but he hasn’t played a lot of football.

"It’s important for Will to go and play regular football. Ipswich has presented that opportunity.

"With his wages coming off the wage bill, it maybe allows us to freshen things up a little bit and maybe utilise that money off his wages.”

Although out of contract in the summer, Keane’s Tigers deal includes an option for a further year which is why the move is a loan rather than a permanent switch.

Hull are happy for Keane to move on, however, if he is a great success during his spell with the Blues there could be the potential to secure a fee for the 25-year-old ex-Manchester United trainee in the summer.

The paperwork relating to the switch is expected to be lodged with the authorities in time for Keane to be available for tomorrow's FA Cup tie at Accrington.
