Boots2Africa Donation Event Ahead of Rotherham Match - Ipswich Town News

Boots2Africa will be hosting another of their preloved football boot donation events in the FanZone ahead of Saturday’s home game against Rotherham (from 1pm).

Boots2Africa is a small community interest company established in 2016 with the aim of collecting and delivering one million pairs of preloved donated football boots and astros - as well as other kit - to children and young adults across Sub-Saharan Africa by 2030.

"Hopefully the Fortuna Blues will be bringing some donations of boots, astros and kits for us,” co-founder Iain Finch said.

"And we're also looking forward to receiving a significant handover from Liz Edwards, Town’s supporter liaison officer, who I'm told has a significant amount already collected as she has the bootbin out in the FanZone at every home match.

"As of last week we passed 9,000 Boots2Africa donated and 20,000 items of kit in total. In the autumn we had 7,500 written-off items of school sports kits donated to us by schoolwear suppliers. All this having just celebrated our third Christmas as a micro charity.

"Off our own bat and working with partner charities we've got over 90 per cent of this delivered to children, schools and sports academies in 12 African nations. The latest projects we’re supporting are in the mountain Kingdom of Lesotho, Western Sahara, South Sudan and Nigeria.

"Look forward to catching up with Town on Saturday lunchtime, the Blues have only lost once in our previous six attendances, so here's hoping we can be a good omen once again!”
