Stewart Declares Himself Fit - Ipswich Town News

Town's record signing Marcus Stewart has declared himself fit for Sunday's more than slightly important game with Walsall. The serially injured striker says he can't wait for what he sees as the biggest game of his career. Stewart previously played for Bristol Rovers in a Wembley play-off final against the club he later joined Huddersfield, but sees Sunday's march as the bigger of the two. His dead-leg sustained on Saturday at the Valley is now OK and he is back in training.

Away from all the tension of the First Division automatic play-off place, the reserves will meet Swindon's second string (have they got enough players to field a full reserve side?) at Bent Lane (KO 2pm). The game sees trialist Eric Molloy make an appearance in the Town midfield. The Irish youth international has been released by Manchester United and will be looking to make an impression. Also out to impress will be John Kennedy playing his last game in a Town shirt before he is released. Also in the Town side will be Titus Bramble, in with a chance of the bench for Sunday. Full squad: Pullen, Artun, Kennedy, J Miller, Bramble, Moffat, A Miller, Niven, Molloy, R Logan, Mayes, O'Neill, Asiamah, Snowdon, Nicholls, Daly and Niemi.

Several Town players will open the new Punch store in the Buttermarket this afternoon. Present will be Matt Holland, David Johnson, Marcus Stewart, Jim Magilton, Jamie Clapham, Richard Wright, Gary Croft and manager George Burley. They will be opening the store at 4.30 pm and meeting supporters until 5.00 pm.

Town's Academy kids will be off to the delights of sunny Keele in the summer. The U17 and U15 squads are off to compete in the Potteries, whilst the real ankle-biters are off to Watford for a tournament.

Town's fifteen-year old striker Darren Bent scored five goals for England U15s in a tournament in Northern Ireland, including all four in a 4-0 demolition of Finland. Another Darren, Darren Kelly starred in goal for the Irish and will be joining Town in the summer.
