Lambert: Emmanuel Set to Stay at Town - Ipswich Town News

Blues boss Paul Lambert says he currently has no plans to send right-back Josh Emmanuel or anyone else out on loan.

Emmanuel’s stint at Shrewsbury was recently cut short with his involvement having been more limited since Sam Ricketts took charge at the League One side at the start of December.

"He’s done well, Josh,” Lambert said. "He’s a big strong lad, but not too bad on the ball. I need to see more of him. I can’t make my mind within 10 days or so.”

Might the 21-year-old be sent back out for another loan? "I think at this moment in time I’m looking to keep Josh with us.

"I think at this moment in time, unless something really creeps up, I don’t see anybody else moving.”

The academy product made 18 starts and two sub appearances for the Shrews but last appeared in a League One match on December 22nd.

Emmanuel's last first-team appearance for the Blues was as a sub on the final day of the 2016/17 season as Town were beaten 3-0 at Nottingham Forest.

The Londoner, who was with West Ham's youth set-up before joining the Blues, is out of contract in the summer but with the Blues having an option to keep him for a further season.
