Town boss Paul Lambert has accepted a misconduct charge relating to his red card at Norwich last week, but has written to the FA outlining the circumstances surrounding his dismissal, which came during a bust-up between the benches just before half-time.
"I am not going to win an appeal so I won’t be going down that route but I have had my say to the FA,” he told the club website.""
"I stand by what I have said. I stand by exactly what went on. I will accept what is coming my way - whatever that is - but there was a lot of stuff that was going on underhand that was wrong and that’s what I have explained to the FA.”
""In their official response to the charge, Town have also questioned the role of the stewards during the flashpoint. Lambert has previously said he was unhappy with the manner in which he was manhandled by a steward.
""The club have also pointed out to the FA that the coach taking the squad to Carrow Road from their hotel took 28 minutes to do a 10-minute journey with a police escort.
Speaking on Tuesday, Lambert revealed that Norwich’s goalkeeping-coach Ed Wooten challenged him to a fight after encroaching into the Town technical area during the melee, which followed a Jon Nolan foul on Max Aarons.
Also red-carded during the incident, although erroneously, was Canaries’ head of performance Chris Domogalla.
In addition to Lambert's charge, the two clubs were charged with failing "to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during both the 45th and 90th minutes, as well as their officials in the 45th minute".
