A young Town U18 side recorded an impressive 1-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers at Playford Road on Saturday morning with Zak Brown netting in the first half.
With manager Adem Atay away in Spain on a coaching course, U23s assistant Chris Hogg joined his U18s counterpart Kieron Dyer in the dugout, and they named three U16s in the starting XI.
One of those, Liam Gibbs, teed Brown up for his match-winning goal in the 22nd minute. The former played the ball across the box and Brown cut in from the right-hand side and finished well with his left foot.
Both teams ended up finishing the match with ten men - Tommy Smith limped off injured with five minutes remaining with the Blues having already used all three subs, before the visitors' captain Joseph Gubbins was shown a second yellow card in stoppage time after he fouled Zanda Siziba.
U18s: Alley, Wyss, Smith, Baker (Bello 82) Fehrenbach, Henderson, Ruffles (Clifford 75), Alexander, Z Brown, Gibbs, Simpson (Siziba 68). Unused: Bort, Baggott.
