Town Off to Denmark - Ipswich Town News

Town's squad are off to Denmark today where they play two matches, the first against Thomas Gaardsøe's old club AaB Aalborg on Tuesday.

Gaardsøe says he can't wait to go up against his former team-mates: "I'm looking forward to being back at my old club and to see some friends. They have a lot of good individual players but they are also strong as a team.

"Hopefully I will play and it won't bother me to be up against someone like [Erik Bo] Andersen; as always we will be looking to stop them scoring."

Their better players include former Rangers man Andersen and Michael Silberbauer, 21-year-old skilful midfielder and a regular in the Danish U21 side.

Keeper Jimmy Nielsen joined Millwall as a youngster, but returned home and has remained with Aalborg ever since.

Kleber Saarenpää is an impressive Swedish defender while Andres Oper, who will miss out on the Town game, is an Estonian striker who has been with AaB since July 1999. Jacob 'Taz' Sørensen is a 19-year-old winger who came into the side last season.

Town play Farum Boldklub on Thursday before returning home for their UK-based pre-season games. TWTD will be in Denmark to report on the two games.

Tour squad: Marshall, Cassar, Wilnis, Makin, Hreidarsson, McGreal, Venus, Gaardsøe, Clapham, Reuser, T Miller, Holland, Wright, Magilton, Ambrose, George, M Bent, D Bent, Stewart and Couñago.
