U18s Thrash Bolton - Ipswich Town News

Town's U18s recovered from going two goals behind early on to thrash Bolton Wanderers 6-2 at Playford Road on Saturday morning with Lounes Foudil (pictured) grabbing a brace and Zak Brown, Tyreece Simpson, Thomas Hughes and Liam Gibbs also finding the net.

The visitors took the lead after just 37 seconds when a poor back-pass from Louie Fehrenbach was capitalised on and a cross was collected by Callum King-Harmes and tucked into the far corner.

Trotters' keeper Callum James did well to deny Brown at the back post shortly after, before Allan Viral tripped King-Harmes in the box at the other end and Ronan Darcy stepped up to convert the resultant penalty after 12 minutes.

The Blues hit back four minutes later though when Hughes played a fine ball through to Brown, who cut in from the left and confidently tucked the ball beyond James.

Simpson then turned and fired the ball beyond James from the edge of the box just two minutes later to level the scores, before Adem Atay and Kieron Dyer's side, who remain second in the Professional Development League Two South table, took the lead on 34.

Brown, who again impressed throughout, produced a fine run on the left and drove into the visitors' box before pulling the ball back to Foudil and the Frenchman tucked the ball home with ease from a couple of yards out.

In first-half stoppage time and while a brief rainstorm was in progress, the Town youngsters added a fourth when Hughes cut in and rifled a left-foot shot past James and into the net.

Brown netted again shortly after the restart but was flagged offside, before sub Gibbs added a fifth on 66 when he slotted home a loose ball on the edge of the box.

With two minutes remaining, a low strike from Foudil evaded James and nestled in the bottom corner, shortly before Jordan Boon struck the woodwork for the visitors at the other end.

Foudil then came within inches of claiming his hat-trick in stoppage time but effort was cleared off the line by Nathan Whalley.

U18s: Egan, Viral (Gibbs 58), Wyss, Baker (Alexander 78), Fehrenbach, Henderson, Ruffles, Hughes, Z Brown, Foudil, Simpson (Reed 67). Unused: Alley, Clifford.
