Funds From Player of the Year Evening to Beattie Statue Campaign - Ipswich Town News

All net proceeds from the Supporters Club’s annual Player of the Year awards evening, which takes place in Legends on Saturday 13th April following the Birmingham City match, will be given to The Beat Goes On, the campaign to raise funds for a statue of Blues legend Kevin Beattie.

This year’s event will be attended by the Supporters Club’s new president Terry Butcher, John Wark and manager Paul Lambert as well as many club staff.

The event will be as much about the supporters as the players, who will be available for autograph and photograph opportunities. There will also be a raffle with club-related and other prizes.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £2 for children aged under-16 and will be available in the Fanzone before Saturday’s game against Nottingham Forest and in Legends afterwards, with the same arrangements in place for the Hull City match on 30th March. They are also available via email from officialitsc@gmail.com.

The Player of the Year voting will take place at the Hull City home game and in the week preceding the match online.

Led by the EADT and Ipswich Star in conjunction with BBC Radio Suffolk and TWTD, The Beat Goes On was launched on December 18th last year on what would have been Beattie’s 65th birthday.

The current target is £110,000 with more than £20,000 already having been donated along with gifts in kind worth around a similar figure. Announcements of major fundraising events will be made in the weeks to come.

You can make a donation online via the Go Fund Me page or send a cheque made payable to ‘The Beat Goes On’ to Kevin Beattie Statue Appeal, EADT, Portman House, 120 Princes Street, Ipswich, IP1 1RS.

There are also collection buckets at reception at the EADT’s offices and at BBC Radio Suffolk and in the FanZone on matchdays.

You can find The Beat Goes On campaign website here.
