El Mizouni Targeting Further First-Team Action - Ipswich Town News

Debutant midfielder Idris El Mizouni is targeting further first-team action having made his senior bow as a sub at Bristol City on Tuesday. The 18-year-old came on for the final 15 minutes at Ashton Gate as the sides drew 1-1.

"I was delighted to make my debut against Bristol City and I'm still buzzing now," El Mizouni told the club site.

"It was a really good game to come into as well. We played well and I think we maybe deserved the win.

"The gaffer spoke to me before I came on and said 'Go out there and show me what you have done for the U23s and in training’, and that helped me relax.

"I really enjoyed it and I would love to get some more minutes in the first team this season - especially at Portman Road.”

El Mizouni was called up to the Tunisia U23s squad - with whom he has previously won two caps - for their home and away Africa Cup of Nations qualification games against South Sudan during the international break but has been given permission to remain with the Blues as he looks to make his case for more first-team involvement to manager Paul Lambert and his staff.

French-born El Mizouni, who joined Town as a scholar in the summer of 2017, qualifies for Tunisia via his father.
