Youngsters Could Win Caps - Ipswich Town News

Blues trio Barry Cotter, Corrie Ndaba and Aaron Drinan could win their first Republic of Ireland U21s caps when their side face Luxembourg in their first European Championships qualifier in Dublin this evening, while academy right-back Dylan Crowe could make another England U18s appearance.

Cotter, 20, won two caps at U19 level, while Ndaba, 19, who recently signed his first professional deal with Town, played once for the Irish U18s.

Both have been regulars in Town’s table-topping U23s team this season but without featuring in the senior side, Cotter having made one start and one sub appearance during the latter stages of 2017/18.

Drinan, 20, who is currently on loan at Waterford for whom he netted both goals in last week’s 2-0 victory over St Patrick’s Athletic, recently spent time at an U21s training camp but is yet to win a cap at any level.

Crowe will win his fourth England U18s cap if he is involved in this afternoon’s game against Mexico at the Sport Chain Cup in Dubai.

The 17-year-old, still to sign a pro deal with the Blues with clubs home and abroad understood to be eyeing him, was an unused sub in the 4-1 victory over Japan in their opening match, then played the full 90 minutes of Friday’s 1-0 defeat to the Czech Republic.

Republic of Ireland U21s: Caoimhin Kelleher (Liverpool), Gavin Bazunu (Manchester City), Darragh Leahy (Bohemians), Dara O'Shea (Exeter City, on loan from West Bromwich Albion), Barry Cotter (Ipswich Town), Corrie Ndaba (Ipswich Town), Conor Masterson (Liverpool), Lee O'Connor (Manchester United), Trevor Clarke (Shamrock Rovers), Liam Scales (UCD AFC), Jayson Molumby (Brighton and Hove Albion), Jake Doyle Hayes (Cambridge United, on loan from Aston Villa), Connor Ronan (FC DAC 1904, on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers), Jamie Lennon (St. Patrick's Athletic), Conor Coventry (West Ham United), Dan Mandroiu (Bohemians), Adam Idah (Norwich City), Troy Parrott (Tottenham Hotspur), Neil Farrugia (UCD AFC), Zach Elbouzedi (Waterford), Michael O'Connor (Linfield), Simon Power (FC Dordrecht, on loan from Norwich City), Aaron Drinan (Waterford, on loan from Ipswich Town).
