Downes Wins Cap as England U20s Defeated - Ipswich Town News

Flynn Downes won his second England U20s cap as a 65th minute sub as the Young Lions were beaten 1-0 by Portugal in Penafiel.

Andre Dozzell was an unused sub for Paul Simpson’s men who as a result of the defeat finished fourth in the U20s Elite League.

Trevoh Chalobah was withdrawn from the squad having skippered in the 3-1 defeat to Poland on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Alan Judge and Jonas Knudsen were unused subs for the Republic of Ireland, who beat Georgia 1-0 in a European Championships qualifier in Dublin, and Denmark, who came from three goals behind in the final six minutes to draw 3-3 in Switzerland.

Meanwhile, academy youngster Armando Dobra won his second Albanian U19s cap as a half-time sub as his side were beaten 2-1 by North Macedonia in an away friendly in Ohrid.

The 17-year-old had made his debut in Sunday's first friendly between the sides hosted by Albania in Korça which ended 1-1.
