Skuse and Collins Back in Training Ahead of Hull Clash - Ipswich Town News

Cole Skuse and James Collins are back in training ahead of Saturday’s game at home to Hull City, while Trevoh Chalobah is fine despite being withdrawn from the England U20s squad at the end of last week, however, Jack Lankester is unlikely to feature again this season.

Midfielder Skuse was subbed in the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest prior to the international break with an ankle problem but manager Paul Lambert says the midfielder should be fine to face the Tigers.

"He trained this morning for the first time,” he said. "We’ll see how he is tomorrow. But he trained and at this moment I don’t think there are any ill effects.”

Central defender Collins, who has been out with a calf problem, has been back in training for longer.

"James trained again, he trained last week for a few days and then again this week, so we’ll see how his reaction is as well,” Lambert added.

Regarding Chalobah, he said: "He’s okay Trev, he’s another one that’s trained so he seems pretty good.

"Everybody has come back [from international duty], Andre Dozzell has come back fine and Flynn Downes has come back fine.

"Jonas Knudsen and Alan Judge will come back tomorrow and we’ll see how everyone is from there.”

Will Keane is ineligible against his parent club this weekend but Lambert is confident that the striker will be back from his hamstring injury in time for the trip to Bolton next weekend.

"It looks like that at the minute,” he added. "He’s doing really well and again we’ll see how he feels but he’s out there training with the medical and fitness people here so he’s on the right road. "

However, he says Lankester is likely to be out for the rest of the season with the stress fracture of his back which has kept him out since mid-January.

"I would doubt that, I would really doubt that,” Lambert said when asked if he thought the 19-year-old would be back before the end of the campaign.

"I think the kid’s got another scan on his back in three weeks’ time and we’ll look at that and see how that’s healing.

"If it’s getting fully healed then [he may be back] but there’s no way I can put pressure on that kid and say, ‘OK, you play the last three games’. We have to have him totally right.”

Grant Ward (ACL), Freddie Sears (ACL), Ben Morris (ACL) and Ben Folami (achilles) have all been ruled out for the rest of the season, while Tom Adeyemi is still some way off a return after achilles surgery.

Emyr Huws played an hour for the U23s on Tuesday but Lambert is taking things slowly with the midfielder who has been out of action since December 2017 due to a knee injury.
