Nolan Still Out, While Keane Won't Be Rushed - Ipswich Town News

Midfielder Jon Nolan will miss Wednesday’s game at Brentford, while manager Paul Lambert is as yet unsure whether striker Will Keane will be fit enough to return to the squad. Central defender James Collins will be rested having returned from injury at Bolton on Saturday.

Nolan suffered an achilles injury against Hull City just over a week ago and wont’t be ready to return until the weekend home game against Birmingham City.

"No, it’s too early, maybe Saturday, we’ll have to wait and see but that’s probably too early for him,” Lambert said.

Keane travelled to Bolton ahead of Saturday’s 2-1 win but was left out of the 18 and the Blues boss is unsure whether the on-loan Hull man will be ready for Wednesday’s visit to Griffin Park.

"I’m not sure, I’m not too sure how he is,” he said. "I won’t rush him because he’s nearly fit. I won’t rush him if I think there’s any doubt.”

Quizzed on whether there were any other injury problems from Saturday, he added: "There are a few lads with some knocks so we’ll need to change it with a couple of personnel, so there’ll be changes, so we’ll wait and see.”

Lambert previously said he would shuffle his pack against the Bees and that Toto Nsiala would come into the side for Collins, who he says is not yet ready for two games in a short space of time.

"I think so, and it’s unfair on him as well. I thought he did great for us on Saturday but I made my mind up during the week what was going to happen, what team was going to play the Bolton one and, barring injury, I knew what team was going to play at Brentford.”

Despite having started only one loanee - Collin Quaner - at Bolton, Lambert again dismissed the suggestion he is now looking to play his own players rather than loanees.

"No, not really as such because we’re still in the fight," he insisted. "Again, I just pick a team which will maybe go and win the game.

"Josh Emmanuel did really, really well when he came in, Andre Dozzell did really well. I know what Teddy Bishop can do and I know what Trevoh Chalobah can do. I’ll pick a team which hopefully will win.”
