U18s Host Blades Aiming to Confirm Top Spot - Ipswich Town News

Victory over Sheffield United in their penultimate Professional Development League Two South game at Playford Road on Saturday afternoon will confirm Town’s U18s as the division’s winners (KO 1pm).

The side coached by Adem Atay and Kieron Dyer remains a point ahead of Cardiff with a game in hand over the Bluebirds, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday and host Burnley in their final game on Saturday morning. The Welshmen need to at least draw with the Clarets for the young Blues to require anything from their afternoon match.

Both teams are already confirmed in the end-of-season play-offs with the side which finishes top of the division getting home advantage in the semi-final.

Leeds are currently top of the Professional Development League Two North table and confirmed in the play-offs, but not yet as winners, with Sheffield Wednesday the favourites to join them.

The young Blues complete their league programme on Tuesday afternoon when they face Crystal Palace away.
